A Campus Build, online

A virtual Campus Build is a free, one-day build sprint you lead online for students at your campus.

The agreement still applies

The operating agreement still applies. Running it online is a format change, so it needs b54’s written approval.

The event page stays

Registration, teams, submissions, and judging stay on the b54 event page, exactly as in person.

One room, one chat

You run one video room and one chat space for the live parts of the day.

No meal allowance

There is no venue and no meal service, so the per-participant meal allowance does not apply.

Stay within approval

Nothing outside the approved event may use the b54 name or money.

A virtual Campus Build is a Campus Build that happens online. You lead it for students at your university, it is free to join, and it follows the operating agreement. The agreement describes the standard event as one day and in person, and any other format needs written b54 approval, so ask for the virtual format in your application and wait for that approval before you announce anything.

What stays the same

• b54 approves each event and provides the platform, the challenge and judging standards, remote support, and central review. • Every participant registers through the b54 event page. Teams of 2 to 5 build from kickoff and submit a working demo, a 2–3 minute video, a repository, and a README. • b54 judges remotely from the video and repository. • The code of conduct, data rules, media approval, partner and prize rules, integrity rules, and closeout all apply.

What changes online

• A video room and a chat space replace the venue. You choose them, test them, and moderate them. • Check-in happens in the video room, one person at a time, because only checked-in participants can join a team. • There is no meal service, so the per-participant meal allowance does not apply. Any other spending needs written b54 approval before you commit to it. • Safety covers the video room, breakout rooms, the chat, and direct messages.

This guide covers the online parts. Where a rule is the same as in person, each chapter links to the Campus Build Guide chapter that holds it.
